fluXus publications eXchange

Since this Ning site has been created to "help fluXus artists to get to know each other", I propose an eXchange of fluXus related publications, to be carried out through the traditional (snail) mail system: holding the "real thing" in your hands is a different kind of eXperience!
For eXample, I have recently published an issue (# 90) of my mail art magazine ARTE POSTALE! devoted to a networking project, HATS OFF TO GEORGE MACIUNAS, that involved 53 artists from 11 countries in the creation of "art hats" dedicated to fluXus artists. The hats were presented in performance on may 26th 2007 in a defilé that took place in the public library of my town Viareggio (Italy), with fluXus veteran Philip Corner and Phoebe Neville as special guests (I posted a series of photos of the event in Open Fluxus). I offer this magazine, while copies last, in eXchange for your fluXus publication. Read more in the attached intro from the zine.

Ποιος βλέπω πραγματικά είναι μια θέση για να βάλει τα πράγματα και για να δοκιμάσει τα πράγματα έξω. Θα μισούσα να σκεφτώ ότι ήμουν αυτός που επιδεικνύει αν και ξέρω τι σημαίνετε. Κανένας δεν έχει το χρόνο να βάλει άλλο οποιαδήποτε προσπάθεια σε τίποτα. Βρίσκομαι για αυτό επίσης. Στέλνω μια κάρτα την τελευταία στιγμή όταν πραγματικά ένα βιβλίο ή ένα κολάζ θα ήταν πιό κατάλληλο. Η μεγαλύτερη μέρος της τέχνης ταχυδρομείου που παίρνω τώρα είναι τόσο θαμπή. Δυστυχώς έχει γίνει θύμα της επιτυχίας του - που αυξάνεται έξω και σε άλλα δίκτυα που κυμαίνονται από τις αποτυπωμένες σε ανάγλυφο λαστιχένιες ανταλλαγές γραμματοσήμων των γατών και teddies και όλο τον τρόπο του καλλιτεχνίζοντος crafyiness. Το Fluxus είναι επίσης μολυμένο με την πληγή τέχνης ταχυδρομείου και το βρίσκουμε σπίτι σε όλο τον τρόπο της εργασίας που οι αρχικοί καλλιτέχνες Fluxus θα έβρισκαν αρκετά κωμικό - bu με έναν κακό τρόπο!

I don't know Greek well enough to write an answer, but I have to say that to me it doesn't sound unfortunate if mail-art has grown as popular as you said.
In fact, it sounds like a very good thing, even if the sent objects don't conform to DIN-Fluxus.
Chacun à son goût. If people like images of kittens and teddy bears, let them make kitten and teddy bear cards to send to each other. Otherwise, they'll buy them from Hallmark -- is that better? Or they'll just watch TV.
Getting more people involved as artists rather than just as consumers might eventually improve the general level of taste and the general level of interest in art.
And it would certainly enrich their lives, and might even change them in ways that would benefit the world as a whole. If the president were to glue some string and feathers to post cards and send them to his friends, he might be less inclined to send bombers and tanks to people he doesn't know.

Maybe it is because of my history in mail art, but I think that establishing a direct, more "physical" contact through the traditional mail is also a way to sidestep the superficiality of most blogging and online contacts, it forces you to take off your virtual ego mask a bit...
